the picture was taken at Elephant & Castle in London which is a main traffic junction in Central London. even though the actual name of the area in the Borough of Southwark is Newington, the popular London Underground station has led to it being commonly called ‘Elephant & Castle’. from the 1890s on, the area came to life and became home to a diverse mix of people.
a diverse mix of birds can also be found in London. there are more than 300 species of pigeons but the one that is common in many cities is the rock dove, which is an ancestor of the wild domestic pigeon. between males and females are few obvious differences. they are usually monogamous, having 2 squabs per brood for which both parents care. in 2009, 540thousand pairs were counted in Britain.

7.4 billion people counts the world population clock, a number that’s rapidly rising. to pay attention to the urgency and importance of global population issues, the United Nations Development Programme announced July 11th to be the ‘World Population Day’. having implications on sustainability and urbanization, access to health services and youth empowerment, it’s most important to address those issues.
