Fawzia Mirza plays a Pakistani-Muslim-lesbian named Zaynab. Zaynab lives in Chicago and takes care of her conservative and TV-obsessed mother from whom Zaynab tries to keep secrets. secrets like .a) learning wrestling, and .b) Alma, who Zaynab falls in love with.
the indie romantic comedy is directed by Jennifer Reeder and co-written by Lisa Donato, with whom Fawzia has already made award-winning film projects.
apart from being a story about love and wrestling, the Newcity’s Chicago film project offers insights of a cross-cultural connection. filming starts this summer in Chicago. the Indiegogo-campaign for ‘Signature Move’ is still running. I know the ladies would be grateful for your support.
