orangealism [ 02.2015 | San Francisco ]

walking the streets of San Francisco I stumbled over this picture of strangely too many yellow/orange tones – though presented in different shapes – in one place: a man selling his oranges right on the spot where the yellow road markings from two crosswalks meet. him: being extremely unimpressed – me: freaking out because of the colourful coincidence.

the corporation Pantone Inc is best known for the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a proprietary color space used in a variety of industries. by standardizing the colors PMS is a color reproduction system that enables manufacturers in different locations to match their colors. whereas the well-known CMYK-process standardizes colors created by using four inks – cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (= black) – the Pantone system also allows many special colors, e.g. metallics and fluorescents. today, its palette contains 1,867 colors. ‘Pantone 151’ is the color of the ripest, intensely tinted fruits on the left. by combining physical energy and stimulation of the color red with cheerful yellow, orange radiates warmth, adventure, and happiness. from red to yellow are also the colors which can show in the nearly round fruit of the of the genus Citrus of the family Rutaceae – growing on small, evergreen trees.
as fruit and color are panning from red to yellow tones, also a piano player is panning between tones. pantones. so many.
